Allie Mitchell serves as the Director of Bands at Liberty Bell Middle School (LBMS) in Johnson City, TN. Her duties include the direction of the 6th Grade Beginning Band, the 7th Grade Band, the 8th Grade Band, and co-directing the Johnson City Middle School Jazz Ensemble with Ms. Keila Brady. Mrs. Mitchell also assists with the Hilltopper Marching Band at Science Hill High School.

Mrs. Mitchell studied Instrumental Music Education at Middle Tennessee State University and holds a Bachelors of Music degree in Instrumental Music Education from East Tennessee State University, as well as a Master of Music in Music Education degree from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. Mrs. Mitchell has spent the most time of all her musical studies in the field of marching arts. She was a member of the Music City Drum and Bugle Corps (Nashville, TN) for three seasons occurring between 2010-2012 and remains heavily involved in MCDC’s alumni organization.

Prior to becoming the band director at LBMS, Mrs. Mitchell was a middle/high school band director in Hawkins County Schools for 6 years teaching 6-8th grade band at Surgoinsville Middle School, 7th/8th grade band at Church Hill Middle School, and was the Assistant Band Director at Volunteer High School. Under her direction, the high school and middle schools received superior ratings at music festivals, regional competitions, and concert performance assessments. Mrs. Mitchell was granted tenure with Hawkins County Schools in 2023. Preceding her time with Hawkins County Schools, Mrs. Mitchell taught K-8 general music for 2 years in Greene County, TN at Baileyton, Ottway, and West Pines Elementary Schools.

Mrs. Mitchell is a proud member of the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME), the Tennessee Music Educators Association (TnMEA), the American School Band Director Association (ASBDA), the East Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association (ETSBOA), the Tennessee Bandmasters Association (TBA), Delta Omicron, and Kappa Kappa Psi. As a 2009 graduate of Science Hill High School and an educator approaching year 10, Mrs. Mitchell is thrilled to be back “home” teaching for the same band program that created her.
